Icy Days

Here are a few pics of some birds me and my friend took during the icy days that closed out January. My friend, Carl, had quite a few visitors feeding at his sunflower head, while my suet was a favorite of these yellow warblers.

Clear Pileated Pics

I finally got some clearer shots of a pileated woodpecker (Dryococus peleatus); this one had ventured into my neighbor's yard. They are such a magnificent looking bird and yes, this is the woodpecker that "Woody the Woodpecker" was modeled after in the cartoon. This woodpecker also went by other common names such as an "Indian crow" and a "rain crow."
